1.) I posted this on our Facebook Fan Page:

LeTip of Oak Park & Forest Park

Thank you, Erica Cuneen at Beyond Properties Realty for her presentation this week, telling us about an exciting new program that her agency has developed, to help local buyers get the very best prices on incredibly high-quality homes! This is going to change everything. Contact Beyond Properties for more details and give them codename “LeTip Home Project”.

This was posted directly on our LeTip Fan Page, and I used an “(@) Status Tag” to make it also show up on Beyond Properties’ Fan Page (now it’s on two pages with one post.) And I could have added other status tags to add even more pages, but for this one, I just did the one page.

Now all of LeTip’s fans and Beyond Properties’ fans will see the post on their news feed.

2.) When I created the Fan Page, I set up an automatic link between Facebook and Twitter (very easy to do), so everything that gets posted on the LeTip Facebook Fan Page also shows up on our Twitter account (http://twitter.com/OakParkLeTip).

3.) Someone on Twitter (BestofIllinois) saw the post, and it intrigued them enough that they “re-tweeted” it, sending it to all of their Twitter followers:

BestofIllinois Illinois Picks

Buzz for Beyond Properties Realty: http://schmap.it/ac0faT – RT@OakParkLeTip Thank you, Erica Cuneen at Beyond Properties Realty for he…

If you click on the link within their Tweet, http://schmap.it/ac0faT, it publicizes both Beyond Properties business info as well as OakParkLeTip twitter profile.

So to sum it up, with one post on Facebook, we ere able to get this message out to hundreds of people all within a few minutes, and it still has the potential to go to thousands more very quickly.

4.) Everything that gets posted helps with Search Engine Optimization, helping your own website and our group Fan Page to get better search engine rankings.

How can you best use this process to support your social media efforts to get more clients and more exposure?

Simple: Go to your Facebook Fan Page (here are a couple that I love: http://facebook.com/GrowYourBiz and http://facebook.com/OakParkLeTip) once a week and post something interesting about one of the following:

- your business

- reply to a post there

- a testimonial

- an article that relates to your businesses or a trending topic of interest

- an announcement for an upcoming event

- a picture that captures or relays an important message

- If you have a Twitter account, Re-tweet others’ posts (takes only a few seconds).

Your Friends and Followers will see it, and the Fans and Followers of the Fan Page will see it. And when they share it, it goes viral!

If you have any questions, please ask away.

Best,

I don’t think there is one overall correct answer, as it depends on so many variables.

Here is the article that sparked this current debate:
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20110212/ISSUE02/302129998/the-price-is-right-or-is-it#axzz1E9nDCJMt

I agree with Susan’s comment in the article that people will spend money if they see the value in what you’re offering.

Value is measured in three dimensions:
- Price vs. monetary resources (affordability)
- Risk vs. rewards (investment potential)
- Want vs. sacrifice (emotional gratification)

During the sales process, each buyer makes their decision by assessing and weighing these three dimensions based on their own internal motivations and circumstances.

As a seller, it’s important to help your buyer get in touch with and weigh these factors, advise them on your product or service, and help them reach the best decision for them.

The best way to do that is to really understand:

1.) Your target client’s pains, problems and challenges

2.) How your product or service can answer these

3.) The process by which you help guide the prospect to his or her buying decision – carefully planned questions that help them make those connections mentioned above.

By scripting out and practicing this sales conversation, you will get better at it and also help more people come to their best decision by understanding what’s at stake if they act or if they don’t, how well your product or service fits for them, and how the decision should be made along the three value dimensions.

I never used to like sales, but now I love it. Here’s why:

BEST:
A really good sales (and marketing) system and approach is one that helps people to make life-changing decisions and take action, even if they don’t buy.

LEAST:
Honestly, nothing comes to mind. When I sell, as well as when I teach my clients how to sell, it’s all about getting to what’s best for the prospect. Again so even if they don’t buy, I look at it as a ‘Win’ for both sides. And taking that approach and giving that value does lead to many more closes and happy clients.

But, I don’t want to short-change the question, so I guess if I had to pick one thing as a “least,” it would be the once-in-a-while when I can’t help someone to make a decision one way or the other. I find that generally these people are usually not the sort of people I want to work with anyway.

Sorry… I guess I turned that back into a positive again. LOL

I’m sure there are things I don’t like, but this was just off the top of my head in reponse to an online post.

-> What are your thoughts on the “Best and Least Liked Aspects of Sales”?

Q: How can I get leads for my new tutoring business?
Jason, I just started a new home-based business tutoring math students. How can I find leads and clients?

First, I would like to say ’Congrats’ on the new business! That’s great that you want to use your gift of mathematical skills to help others.

There are lots of options to drum-up leads for home-based businesses and convert those to sales.

Where are you located, and who do you want to tutor? Those might influence some of what you choose to do. You can have a good mix of in-person, on the phone and online activities such as social networking.

Speaking to classes and providing math and homework tips to students that are your potential clients might be a couple of easy-to-do and effective strategies.

Here is a list of ways that I help my small business clients to market themselves, create marketing and lead-generation systems. Some of these might work for you:

o _____ Networking Events / Meetings / Organizations
o _____ Lead Capturing from your Website
o _____ Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Meetup
o _____ Articles / Newsletters – in hard copy
o _____ Ezine / Blog
o _____ Co-Registration List Building
o _____ Joint Ventures, Affiliate Programs
o _____ Teleclasses
o _____ Email Campaigns
o _____ Speaking Engagements, Workshops
o _____ Referrals
o _____ Media Exposure
o _____ Cold Calling
o _____ Paid/Barter Advertising

I recommend you pick three to five methods that you enjoy the most, come up with a strategy and system for each, and then be very persistent with executing them. You can tweak your strategies as you find what works best for you.

For more in-depth on the Social Networking strategies, here is a step-by-step guide for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Meetup:
http://www.distinctivecoaching.com/social-networking-special-report/

I hope these ideas help!

All the best,
Jason

In the spirit of sharing, helping reverse the recession, and providing sales to those that truly deserve it, I would like to introduce “Testimonial Tuesdays”!

http://snipurl.com/hey43 in the Facebook Group: “Achieve Your Ideal Business Now!”

I think Tuesdays are a great day for us to give a recommendation, testimonial or just kudos for a job well done to anyone we’ve worked with that we feel others could really benefit from.

For my first Testimonial Tuesday post and I want to give props to someone that has saved me hundreds of dollars over the past year, if not more:

I love the professional service and additional coverage she was able to provide at a much lower rate on my home, auto and umbrella insurance. I’ve been very happy with my rep for over a year. Let me know if you want Richele’s contact info to have her give you a great quote! Jason@DistinctiveCoaching.com

Please post your own Testimonials:

Hello Business Achievers!

Please post your own Testimonials:
http://snipurl.com/hey43

All the best,
Jason

P.S. Here is a Twitter post for you to ReTweet about Testimonial Tuesdays:

“Testimonial Tuesday”! Let the world know about the awesome service & value of other polished professionals! http://snipurl.com/hey43 Pls RT

I couldn’t find in the terms of service what I had violated, and to this day have no idea what happened.

Thanks for sharing these tips. They are more specific and give an idea of what to watch out for and avoid in terms of being Facebook terminated.
