“Why don’t people comment on your blog?”

I just read a couple of short articles today about why people don’t leave comments on blogs and social networking posts.

They were pretty good points. One had 10 reasons, the other 25. I thought of a few myself and realized the list could easily grow to 100 or more.

So, from my point of view, rather than listing several possible reasons people don’t comment, I think the flipside is more manageable.

People *will* comment on your blog posts and social media comments for any, or a combination, of four main reasons:

1.) They want exposure & SEO help from a post to one of their keyword topics or target audiences.

2.) They want to build relationships with the poster and/or readers.

3.) They seriously disagree with what you wrote.

4.) They really, really agree with what you wrote and find if super, incredibly helpful.

So if you want to get more comments and replies to your blog and social networking posts, try to keep these four reasons in mind, and actually word your postings to illicit these reactions from readers.

Keep in mind, the stronger the emotional response to what you wrote, the more likely a reader will be to add a comment.
